Jacques de Klerk is a great local photographer who is also doing his Masters in Environmental Management - assessing species diversity in areas of black wattle and in cleared areas. While Jacques once worked as the Kariega Conservation Volunteers Co-ordinator from 2008-2010, he now spends part of his time on Kariega Game Reserve researching for his thesis.
Kariega guest Emanuela Caligiuri recently spent two days on safari at Kariega Game Reserve South Africa, and shared with us some amazing photos of a wide range of big game animals such as giraffe, lion, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, antelope, zebra, hippo, tortoise and more.
The following images were taken by Katarzyna Cetkowska on her 3 day safari at Kariega Game Reserve South Africa in October 2013. Although she claims to be an amateur photographer, we think these are some of the best landscape images of Kariega that we have seen!
This week's wonderful wildlife video was created by Andrew Aveley and features some great footage of Kariega and the Eastern Cape. Kariega Game Reserve was recently the location of an Africa Geographic photographic safari, hosted by the very talented photographer and ranger Brendon Jennings. The success of this specialised five day safari has led to the scheduling of two more Africa Geographic photo safaris at Kariega - one in May 2014 and one in September 2014.
Today is World Animal Day and we wanted to celebrate with our fans by showcasing some of the lessor spotted and lessor profiled animals - maybe not all as impressive as the great African Big 5, but all just as special and beautiful nonetheless.
