Guests love the privacy and relaxed safari experience offered at our Homestead safari lodge. This is our only sole-use lodge which means that guests can adjust the daily safari activities to suit the needs of the group. If you don't want to get up early for safari drive, no problem! Chat to one of the guides and you can leave for your game drive at a time that suits you, go for a boat trip on the river or enjoy a guided bush walk. Other activities include a lazy canoeing excursion, relaxing at the pool and river fishing. Local community tours can be arranged and offer insights into African culture and community life (additional cost applies).

Kariega Game Reserve offers excellent Big 5 game viewing in a 10,000 ha malaria-free private safari reserve. Close up encounters with elephants, rhino, lion and many other wildlife are common. In fact, game viewing can be excellent from within the Homestead's large fenced garden as the lodge is located in a remote section of the reserve and wildlife can be often seen around the lodge. There are also plenty of birds in the garden and surrounding bush.

The Homestead safari lodge team is superb! Husband and wife duo Themba and Lingani take great care of all guests, along with the dedicated cook, safari guide and housekeeping team. The lodge can sleep up to 14 people in seven ensuite bedrooms that are set along a wide verandah looking onto the outdoor pool. There are two lounges, a bar, two outdoor areas with comfortable seats, a boma to enjoy dinner under the African stars and an indoor dining area.

Bedroom Update at Homestead Safari Lodge

We recently updated the seven bedrooms and are very pleased with the result. We hope our guests enjoy the new look too.

Guest Feedback Homestead Safari Lodge

We loved this feedback received from recent Homestead guests.

"We were at the Homestead for 2 nights last month and it was the highlight of our 2 week road trip in South Africa. Homestead is such a charming property and we (3 families with young kids) felt so comfortable and safe in there. Lingani and her team took very good care of us and kept asking us what our kids would like to eat. Food prepared for us were delicious and generous in quantity. Desserts were home made and so yummy. Themba and John took us on exciting game drives and we learnt so much about the animals and the entire ecosystem. I highly recommend The Homestead to big groups. We loved it and hope to be back again."
