Ultimate Bush Camp Safari Experience
Kariega Game Reserve offers guests unforgettable experiences with nature and wildlife. To add to this amazing safari experience, the Bush Camp offers guests an "under the African stars" camping adventure as an extra add-on to normal lodge bookings. Five rustic guest tents and a beautiful campsite are located in a remote, wild and pristine part of the reserve accommodating up to ten guests.
- Guests are provided with small day-packs to pack overnight necessities.
- Guests depart on normal afternoon game drive to arrive on the banks of the beautiful Bushman’s River to enjoy an incredibly scenic leisurely boat cruise into the amazing Bushman’s River valley wilderness area.
- Guests enjoy a wilderness walk among a diversity of game species and stunning surroundings.
- Arrive at the Bush Camp before sundown to enjoy a real bush and campfire meal and evening, overnighting in the wild in one of five guest tents.
- Depart in the early morning on a morning game drive in the remotest areas of the reserve and then back to the lodge in time to freshen up before breakfast/brunch.
Booking requirements:
- Available as a pre-booked extra with all 3 night (or more) lodge bookings at the reserve.
- Guests retain their suite or chalet at their lodge while they are out camping on the Reserve.
- Not available to be pre-booked with 2 night lodge bookings – however guests may also book directly when they are at the reserve, subject to availability.
- Bookings are subject to availability and weather dependent.
Costs:
- R750 per guest sharing in conjunction with 3 night bookings at any lodge (pre-booked).
- FREE optional extra - guests receive a free night at the Bush Camp for bookings of 4 nights or more at any lodge (pre-booked).
- R1 000 per guest sharing for guests booking when they are already at the reserve.
- No single supplement.
Please note the Bush Camp is not a separate lodge, this experience is an extra and does not replace nights booked at one of the Kariega Lodges.
Available booking periods:
The Bush Camp will operate from September to May each year and is subject to availability. We also reserve the right to cancel due to bad weather although every effort will be made to accommodate on alternative nights. If we are unable to accommodate pre-booked guests at the Bush Camp a refund will be given.

Don't forget your binoculars!
Bring cameras and video recorders to capture the stunning close-up sightings of lion, elephant and other wild game as well as dramatic African vistas.
You may want to go out on the exciting night drives to view nocturnal wildlife activity, so bring warm clothes (particularly in the colder months from May to September).
