Kariega guests were treated to a boma evening with a difference on Saturday, 18 May when musican Jason Hartman and his father played guitar and sang for them around the toasty bonfire.

Jason and the Rock ‘n Ride 4 Rhino team visited Kariega Game Reserve as part of their epic 10,000 kilometer motorcycle journey around southern Africa. The purpose of the adventure, according to the committed conservationists, is “to educate and inform, mobilize united action and raise R20 million to help fund the extensive equipment, manpower and resources required to effectively combat the scourge that is threatening our wildlife and our planet.”

The Rock ‘n Ride 4 Rhino team is lead by Jason Hartman, 2009 SA Idol and founding director of Men of the Trees project, and Dave Estment, ex-professional superbike racer, professional wildlife photographer and videographer, and founding trustee of the Wild Imaging Trust. Their journey started on 6 May from Durban and they plan to ride around South Africa and into Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe until September 2013. Their trip includes numerous visits to local schools.
