River Lodge at Kariega Game Reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape offers a rare and magical blend of a bush and beach safari.
The safari lodge rests in a tranquil location along the banks of the Bushman’s River which connects this Big 5 wilderness with the beach and Indian ocean at Kenton-on- Sea. Guests enjoy a number of river activities including fishing, canoeing and a boat cruises down to the beach.
River Lodge offers 10 spacious, air conditioned suites that meander along the banks of the river, offering our guests all the peace and tranquility one seeks while on safari. Within the main section of the Lodge guests can find a quiet spot in one of the lounges, page through a book in the library, relax at the outdoor pool or take in the view from the magnificent deck which overhangs the river.

“River Lodge is in a glorious setting. Our lodge was set right on the river. It was well equipped and comfortable. The food and service were excellent. We enjoyed 5 fascinating game drives and were thrilled to see lions, rhino, buffalo and herds of beautiful elephants, including several babies. Our ranger, Zolani, was hugely knowledgeable and great fun. All in all we had a memorable stay."
