Leopard Project June 2011

This month 20 different species were caught on the trap cameras (unfortunately no leopards yet), and a total of 209 photographs were taken. Some interesting pictures of game were caught including water mongoose, black rhino, porcupine, and bushpig (check out these pics on the full report below).

We were recently visited by Liaam Minnie, a Zoology student from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. He gave us some great tips on the placing of trap cameras - confirming that current locations were ideal and suggesting some possible sites for the future. Thanks Liaam!

We are also excited about new scats (leopard scent used to attract other leopards) which are being sent from Tenikwa Wildcat & Wildlife Sanctuary. A big thank you to Tenikwa for graciously agreeing to help! Thanks also to Helena Warren of Kariega Game Reserve who arranged this.
