We recently assisted two couples to plan and book their self-drive tour from Cape Town to Kariega Game Reserve. The tailor-made tour included Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Oudtshoorn, Knysna & Plettenberg Bay and ended at Kariega Game Reserve.

Cape Town and Cape Winelands Tour
The group started their 14-night holiday in Cape Town. Their base was the luxurious and convenient private Redcliffe House, part of the More Quarters Hotel in the central city. The villa includes four en-suite bedrooms, comfortable lounges plus an outdoor pool and entertainment area. Both spacious and private, this charming property is great for families and friends. The group explored the many Cape Town attractions with highlights being their tour around the Cape Peninsula and the trip to the top of Table Mountain.
The holiday also included two nights in the Cape Winelands village of Stellenbosch. The town is less than an hour's drive from Cape Town and is home to superb wine estates and restaurants. The group enjoyed the great weather, beautiful scenery, excellent Cape food and wine and also played a round of golf at one of the many top golf courses.
Little Karoo Adventure in Oudtshoorn
From the wine country the party drove themselves in their rental vehicle along the scenic inland route into the Little Karoo. This tour included travelling through many vineyards and alongside rugged mountain before arriving in the village of Oudtshoorn. The group stayed at De Zeekoe Guest Farm and loved the views, service and surrounding activities.
Highlights included the early-morning meercat adventure, a visit to the Cango Caves and the nearby ostrich farm tour.
Garden Route Delights in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay
From the big skies and wide open spaces of the Little Karoo the tour returned to the coast in the heart of the Garden Route. The party selected to stay in both Knysna and Plettenberg Bay and loved Kanonkop Guest House and Hog Hollow Country Lodge. Both properties offer luxurious accommodation, excellent personalised and friendly service, as well as panoramic views. The below image is the view from Kanonkop over the Knysna Lagoon.
Kariega Safari at Settlers Drift Tented Lodge
The holiday finished with a spectacular three night safari at the luxurious Settlers Drift Lodge. The superb location, decor, personal service and tasty food at the lodge along with the excellent Big 5 game viewing definitely ended the tour on a high. Close-up wildlife experiences with rhino, elephant, hippo, giraffe, lion and buffalo left the group in awe. The group have already recommended the lodge to friends and family.
